hi.

Im new with the surgery. Before I tear any shirts up, does anyone have a Tutorial on making a big tshirt smaller? It seems like it'd be pretty simple. I just need to know how to make the sleeves right and stuff.

Apreciate it. Thanks.

I did that with a bunch of T shirts that were too big...

What I did was turn the big shirt inside out. Lay a shirt that I liked the fit of over top. Trace the outline of the smaller shirt. Then sew along the lines. (if you are paranoid you can pin on the lines first, then turn it right side out and model it to be sure it is satisfactory..). Once you have sewn it, cut away the excess shirt.

The sleeves come out thinner, but I didn't find the need to shorten any of them. Seems like it would be just as simple tho.

I always wondered the same thing and you explained it perfectly. Thank you. :-)

so when you trace and sew the trunk of the shirt, just stop at the sleeves?

thanks a ton. it helps a lot.

This is what the traced shirt should look like. The dotted lines represent the seam that the sleeves are sewn on at. The red is where you would sew. Hope this pic makes it clear!

scroll down some and then look at the picture.
Turn the one youre resizing inside out and place one that fits directly on top of it, then trace the one that fits with marker, pin where its traced, sew along the line (except at the bottom of course) then cut off the rest of the faberic. It works really well, i just have to roll up the sleaves a bit cause Im cutting down Larges to Xsmalls and it looks a bit unperportional.

Yes, I had looked at the picture, it just wasn't quite clear.

Anyway thanks a lot, I was a bit confused. :)
